China applies multiple new medical technologies to fight Now Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)
Now Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has affected all over the world. Until March 4th, The cumulative number of confirmed cases worldwide is close to 100,000 (about 80,000 in China), and China has cured more than 50,000 patients.
China is quite efficient in preventing and controlling Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). In the process of curing patients, it is well known that patients need intravenous injections to maintain the nutrition required by the body, and patients also need intravenous injections to deliver drugs to the body to fight the virus.
How we do venipuncture with protective clothing?
As medical staffs are wearing a series of protective equipment such as protective clothing, gloves, goggles, every medical operation becomes more difficult than usual. Especially the venipuncture. Chapter 22. VASCULAR VISUALIZATION
22.1 To ensure patient safety, the clinician is competent in the use of vascular visualization technology for vascular access device (VAD) insertion. This knowledge includes, but is not limited to, appropriate vessels, size, depth, location, and potential complications.
22.2 Vascular visualization technology is used in patients with difficult venous access and/or after failed venipuncture attempts.

On Feb 4th, 2020, the Chinese Nursing Association had released “For Novel coronavirus pneumonia patients-Recommendations for medical staff’s intravenous infusion treatment work (first edition)”.
The “Recommendations” said that As medical staff are wearing a series of protective equipment such as protective clothing, gloves, goggles, the puncture is more difficult than usual. If puncturing is difficult, do not perform a blind puncture. Use vein visualization techniques to help the medical staff to do venipuncture (such as infrared light and ultrasound).
